STARTLING EVENT!
How could a compressor blow up, devastating the outdoor unit of a midwall split arrangement, as shown here? 


I was asked this question, and was unable to answer. In order to seek help from others, I added illustrations to the Consulting Engineer's Accident Report and circulated this among several kind folk, here and overseas.
This worked! Some fascinating information came to hand. Using this, I was able to piece the information together into something which made a measure of sense. The article, prepared for publication, together with other relevant material, has been made available here. Some critical issues regarding the shaky manner in which refrigeration practise is in some cases being followed have emerged. These certainly require prompt and decisive attention by the Industry.
